Netflix recently announced it would be releasing not just one but two Stranger Things games. The video games section is only available to users in Poland, as part of an initial test; however, their recent statement says that they are working to improve the experience in the coming months.
The titles of the new Netflix Gaming video games are Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3, which were developed under a licensing agreement in 2017 and 2019 respectively to match with the second and third seasons of the Netflix series.
The company revealed that they are still in the early stages of development. They will continue to improve their video game section and make it available for users around the world but first, they would like to test out this new feature with Polish gamers during a small initial trial period.
According to the streaming company, their objective is to provide their subscribers with free games without ads, advertisements or in-app purchases. What is more, all Netflix subscribers will be able to enjoy the new video game section.
The hiring of Mike Verdu in mid-July by Netflix Gaming was clearly what the company needed to start gaming development. With vast experience in the world of video games and an outstanding resume, Verdu has worked for companies such as Zynga, EA Mobile and Facebook’s AR / CR division. This power move may have been what accelerated the company’s plans to release its game streaming service later this year.
Here is what Netflix Poland subscribers should know!
Can you play games on Netflix? Yes, you can! But as we said before, the ‘Stranger Things’ video games are currently only available for Polish Android users. They have access to these video games using the Netflix app on their smartphones.
If you are lucky to be among the selected audience, here are the steps to follow to play Stranger Things’ video games.
When entering the Netflix app, you will have access to a list of all newly released video games. If you click on one of them, Netflix will automatically redirect you to Google Play Store, where Netflix Gaming can be downloaded and installed on your device directly.
After installation is complete, and after signing in with your account, both titles will show up individually in Netflix Gaming.
Notice that the new Netflix video games launched by Netflix Gaming can only be played from the mobile app. Contrary to what people might think, Stranger Things’ video games can not be played from a computer or television. The company confirmed that it does not plan to stream these video games, but instead it will let users download them.
Now that it has entered the gaming landscape, it’s only natural for fans to wonder what other tv series is going to be involved in the next game creation. One thing is for sure: Netflix Gaming has come to stay!
Unfortunately -for most of us- Netflix did not provide any information about when its video games will be available in other countries or on iOS devices. But we are sure we’ll play Netflix games soon.
