G2 Esports’ All-Female Team
Esports teams are mostly male-dominated but now G2 Esports, the famous European esports organization, has presented an all-female Valorant team called G2 Gozen.
G2 Gozen is made up of some of the best players in the world: Julia “Juliano” Kiran, Michaela “Mimi” Lintrup, Zainab “zAAz” Turkie, Petra “Petra” Stoker, and Anja “aNNja” Vasalic. Except for Anja Vasalic, the G2 esports team members arrive from CS: GO after a strong performance in the XSET colors during 2021.
Valorant’s women esports team is expected to participate in the qualifiers for EMEA Game Changers, which will be starting on October 25th.
Julia “Juliano” Kiran, G2 Gozen’s captain, says she has been into gaming since she was a toddler and grew up in the world of gaming. Her first approach to esports was back when she was only 11 when she started playing Counter Strike. At the age of 16, she took part in her first tournament.
As the team’s captain, Kiran says that instead of having an “end goal”, the team’s main objective is to strive for greater success and continuous improvement.
Michaela “Mimi” Lintrup also expressed her excitement for being part of this new female team formation: “I have never experienced anything like this before, we are all very excited and ready to compete”, she said.
G2 Gozen’s consolidation is part of G2 Esports’ aim to empower both men and women to play against each other in competitive mixed leagues and to gather together high-performing gamers in the esports industry, no matter their gender identity.
Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez, founder and CEO of G2 Sports, said that the gaming company considers G2 Gozen their Valorant team instead of a female team. He also added that at G2, the creation of new teams and the incorporation of new players is based on skills and brand fit.
“These are amongst the best female players in the world, and we’re proud to have them. We’ll support them all the way, as we support all our teams, and look forward to seeing them grow and kick some ass as part of the G2 army” Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez said.
