Professional Twitter accounts, also called Professional Profile, are Twitter’s latest creation that will probably open up a range of opportunities for small businesses.
Businesses, professional users and creators can now access a new profile display on Twitter. They must fill in an application form to get a new Professional Profile which will allow them to display their business information, including the option a “shop” or “newsletter” module.
The social network company explained that their decision is based on the fact that Twitter users like to interact with brands and engage in conversations about products and services.
Here is what Twitter said about the new option to create a Professional Profile:
“We know people come to Twitter to interact with brands and engage in conversations about products and services. All this demand gives us confidence in the power of combining real-time conversation with enhanced features for professionals aimed at better controlling and enhancing their identity on Twitter.”
This new feature has been tested by Twitter since April with the participation of selected brands in an initial beta program. Then, the invitation was extended to more businesses earlier this month and it is expected to reach all businesses in the next stage.
According to Twitter, Professional Accounts are a gateway to a wide range of professional tools not available to non-professionals, including Twitter Ads, Quick Promote, Advanced Profile features, and Twitter’s future efforts around shopping.
The last element raises a lot of expectations because Twitter is working to improve its eCommerce tools to provide more opportunities for brands to sell their products online.
